Radio Mirchi collaborated with Hulladek Recycling for their flagship event – Mirchi Shera Barir Adda, marking the oncoming of Kolkata’s favourite festival – Durga Puja.

This year, Hulladek was one of the key sponsors for the event bringing people together in the festive spirit.

We set up our kiosks and waste collection bins in residential complexes and housing societies like Active Acres (Tangra), Avishikta 2 (Ruby Park), Devlok De Casa (Sonarpur), Manglik Housing (Santoshpur), Samadrita Abashan (Ruby Park) and Symphony Towers (Behala).

With a line up of exciting games, fashion show, treasure hunt, cook offs and amazing gifts, Mirchi and Hulladek along with many other brands created the Pujo splendor for kids and adults alike.

We also conducted informative sessions on waste management and recycling in order to spread awareness on how steps taken on an individual’s level can also amount to gargantuan results.

Waste management and recycling is still a niche for India in general and Bengal in particular. With events like these, Hulladek Recycling strives to make it a regular activity practiced by households across the city.

By engaging the audience in a carnival-like setup, we ensure they not only learn and adopt environment friendly practices, but also have a good time while at it.

Our key weapon in this battle against waste ignorance and apathy was the Planet Healers Selfie Corner.

People of all age groups thronged to the selfie booth to take pictures with the Planet Healer frames. Even if this was just for the sake of being part of a trend, it established a desire in them to be a part of a bigger movement for the environment.

We managed to reach out to thousands of people through this collaboration and collected hundreds of kgs of plastic and e-waste. Here’s hoping the people of Bengal make recycling a part of their lifestyle and enjoy it as much as they enjoy Durga Pujo Adda!
